The village is surrounded by impressive granite rocks which take on a red, pinkish glow at dusk that is worth seeing. L’arcipelago della Maddalena, has been a protected reserve for the last few years, can be reached by boats leaving daily from the Baja Sardinia beach. After having seen the most beautiful islands, (Caprera, La Maddalena, Spargi, Budelli, Razzoli e Santa Maria) the boat will bring you back in the late afternoon.

For those that are interested, two of the islands are reachable by car (Caprera e La Maddalena) thanks to a maritime connection between Palau and La Maddalena which is connected to Caprera island with an impressive iron bridge. The island of Caprera is home not only to an uncontaminated land, rich in pine forests which extend until charming beaches with pink granite cliffed beaches, it also happens to be where Giuseppe Garibaldi’s famous home is located.
